2018 has been an incredible year of change for the joinery with rapid growth, huge investment in both people and machinery, and the creation of two new departments (Marketing and Kitchen design).

The joineries impressive growth came as a result of an exceptionally profitable 2016, where the owners made the call to reinvest the yield back into the business. Having historically relied quite heavily on repeat custom and word of mouth, it was widely felt that it was time to take a leap of faith into the digital world and expand our potential client pool.

After a world of branding meetings and some very confusing acronyms, the joinery rebranded and launched its new website. Then got themselves on social media! Initially this was met with hesitation, however, it wasn’t long until the enquiries came flooding in.

Combining a blend of marketing efforts, increased sales activity, and an influx of work from our sister company. We were fortunate to welcome a host of brand new clients including: The Natural History Museum, University College of London, Berkeley Homes, to name a few. We are excited to continue to build and grow on this success.

Technology and machinery have been a huge focus for the workshop. Over the course of the year, we purchased four new machines (wood welder, metal saw, drum sander and are in the process of refurbishing the spray booth) and invested in 3D Solidworks, making us BIM enabled. With these new developments in place, we have been able to speed up project lead times, eliminate the potential for error, and remain at the forefront of joinery innovation.

One of the things that we are most proud of this year was the launch of the Falkus apprenticeship scheme. This offers people the opportunity to kick-start their careers and in turn, helps safeguard the industry and its specialist skill set.

For the workshop, it has been one remarkable year. We have been able to almost double our workforce, which has created room for internal promotions. This has meant that we were able to invest even more time and money into personal development and training, which has allowed the workshop to flourish.

We’re so proud of the team that we’ve built around us are looking forward to the year ahead. If you were keen to get the detail on what else we’ve been up to, we’ve created this handy infographic to keep you updated.

From the team at Falkus Joinery, we would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
