They also commissioned our sister company to construct the swimming pool and to replace existing structures on the site adjacent to the existing sports hall sports hall. You can read the Jerram case study here – Haberdashers Case Study

Reception desk

This project involved the supply & installation of a 6m diameter curved reception desk constructed from Euro Oak veneered MDFs, flexi MDF and pearl grey laminated MDFs.

This was made from European Veneered Oak with Solid Oak Edging.  The reception desk was constructed and assembled at the Falkus Joinery Workshop on a special levelling platform to make sure when installing the desk that the joints and mitres are seamless.

Project: The Jubilee Academy

Project type: supply & fit
Joinery requirements: Reception desk
Address: Lowlands Road, Harrow

The client

The Jubilee Academy were in desperate need of a brand new reception desk and so approached the joinery and commissioned the team to design and build a splayed angle reception desk.

Materials and finish

Being fanatical about woodwork we wanted to really focus on the quality of the material and finish and so we opted to choose a timber that would complement its surroundings to offer that wow factor when guests visited the school.

Using a clear oiled America Maple worktop, we wanted to add a little character and so inserted capping and skirting detail as well as plain white Formica panels & fronts.

The solid maple was chosen due to the strength of the timber, while the finish [Matt Osmo] to future proof the reception desk for years to come.

We used a traditional joinery method – tongue and groove – to install a solid board top to ensure the longevity of a reception desk and to help it withstand the everyday impacts of a busy school.
